Art of the Jewel For over 40 years Sue Swerdlow has been living the dream life of many artists, on the "Big Island" Hawaii. Now, another famous icon of island life has inspired Sue's necklace designs, the beautiful Hawaiian lei. Her necklaces incorporate pearls, Koa beads, amethyst, citrine, jades, agates, coral, quartz crystal, aquamarine, carnelian, mother of pearl, along with lampwork, dichoric, vintage Czech, Indian, and Italian hand blown glass beads. Much like her paintings, Sue (design name Suze Swerdlova) builds a theme around her unique and exoitc centerpieces. Exploiting her talent for texture, color and knowledge of painting sets Sue's designs apart. Using antique ivories, jades, Chinese gambling chips and 'nail guards', cameos, meershaum smoking pipes, and vintage quartz make these creations show stoppers and true wearable pieces of art.
